Filming With Photovision
I had a blast filming with the super talented Ed Pierce, Brian Killian and rest of the amazing PhotoVision crew recently. These guys really are the best. Fresh & Green Fun Studio Makeover

I had a blast redecorating, refurbishing, recycling and repurposing everyday and vintage items to create a whole new funky, energetic studio experience. God Bless America
Here are some images from South Dakota Honor Flight 11. They begin with the actual music performed by the El Riad Shrine Chanters who graciously sang for the veterans' send off. It was such a moving experience to again be with so many amazing heroes who gave so much for our Country. Listening to their incredible stories and sharing in this deeply meaningful and touching journey was such an honor. Freedom isn't free and we are so grateful to all of our veterans. God Bless America and all of our troops. We appreciate and thank you for your service. You are true heroes!

Meet Alexa~Evans Model Team 2012
The whole Evans experience was amazing! The pictures turned out more than perfect. Rod made sure the lighting was set just right to make the pictures that much better. Everyone at Evans was super friendly and they all tried so hard to make the pictures look great. Meet Chayce~Little Grape
"Since being born premature in 2006, little Chayce has been a trooper. Originally from California, Chayce and his family were no strangers to their local hospital. Having been placed on a feeding tube by the age of 16-months to correct acid reflux, he continued to experience eating and feeding problems. Eventually, the family moved to South Dakota where a routine check-up at Avera Children’s led to a whirlwind of tests and procedures. Chayce initially complained of stomach pain but went on to have seizures; requiring emergency medical services. Thankfully, they were in the right place at the right time. Today, despite multiple tests and procedures, Chayce continues to experience issues with his stomach and esophagus but is making progress thanks to the care at Avera Children’s."

Meet Mikayla~Little Grape
"Full of spirit and energy, 10-year-old Mikayla was spending a typical summer afternoon playing in a city park when her life was thrown a curve ball. While climbing a large tree, she lost her balance and fell to the ground. After the resounding “thud” came the realization of her injuries. Her head was split open and her body was bruised. After a visit to the local emergency room, it was determined that she had broken her back and was immediately transferred to Avera Children’s Hospital for surgery. Two days later, Mikayla was on the mend – only memories and a large brace reminded her of that fateful afternoon. Thanks to the care of Avera Children’s and the child life specialists, she is on her way to making a full recovery."

Meet Mariah~Little Grape
"Mariah is a young girl full of smiles and laughter. Mariah came to Avera Children’s Pediatric ICU after falling, causing a spleen injury. Mariah was hospitalized for a couple weeks on bed rest. During her recovery she was full of energy and kept the child life specialists busy with all her craft projects and games, she was eager to play. Her favorite activity was syringe painting. Mariah would stay up late into the evening watching movies and having sleepovers with her friend in her hospital room.
Soon after Mariah was discharged, she was right back visiting Avera Children’s for a few days before discharging for the second time. A few months had gone by and one day Mariah was admitted again as she wasn’t feeling well. After several tests, pokes, and x-rays they found out her appendix was causing her discomfort. So off to surgery she went and was very brave. Three hospitalizations in a short amount of time, Mariah has overcome challenges and never lost her smile and laughter. Mariah was a lot of fun and Avera Children’s staff was honored in taking care of her during her hospitalizations."

Meet Bryce~Little Grape
"For thirteen years, Bryce was known for his fun-loving actions and practical jokes. But what happened one afternoon was anything but funny. An accident that involved his brother’s vehicle resulted in a traumatic brain injury and landed young Bryce in critical condition at Avera McKennan. His future was unclear, but thanks to the caregivers at Avera Children’s and the support of his family and friends, Bryce slowly began to make progress—despite the odds. Today, Bryce has returned home and is resuming his normal daily activities. He continues to work on rehabilitation but is getting stronger every day."

Meet Mason~Little Grape
I'd love you to meet a few of the amazing "Little Grapes" that I've been blessed to photograph for Avera Children's. They are each so special and they truly touch my heart. I get so much more back than what I give when hearing what these inspiring children and their families have gone through.
"Weighing in at a mere 1 lb, 4 oz, Mason spent the first three months of his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Avera Children’s struggling with infections. His mother, Jessica, suffered from a syndrome where a deadly antibody threatened the life of her unborn child. She immediately underwent treatments and she and her husband were thrilled to welcome their little miracle into the world. Despite spending time in the NICU , little Mason continues to grow stronger and everyone is optimistic he will lead a healthy life free of complications resulting from his premature arrival."

Honor Flight South Dakota
I'm so honored to again be part of Honor Flight SD which leaves for Washington, D.C. tomorrow. Here's some of the images from last October's Honor Flight. Meet Kaylor~Evans Model Team 2012
My perfect day would be in the summer laying out on the beach with all my friends. It would be really relaxing and chill and we would talk about everything going on in life. My experience at Evans was AMAZING! The day I got the call to be an Evans model, I was so excited!!! Walking into the studio was breathtaking. Rod has such a cool style and awesome ideas! He really focused on every little detail before he snapped a shot to make sure everything was perfect. I really liked that! I loved all my pictures and get so many compliments from them. I'm so glad I chose Evans for my senior pictures...Thanks so much for an awesome experience Rod! I cannot wait for my summer session. I had sooooo much fun!-Kaylor

Beauty and the Beast
Last night was the opening of O'Gorman High School's production of Disney's Beauty And The Beast. They have such an amazingly talented cast and crew! This "must see" performance continues April 29th, 30th, and May 5th, 6th, & 7th at 7pm with Special Matinee May 7th at 1:30pm. Everyone at O'Gorman should be so proud----Congratulations!
